Little Brother Jonathan & Big Sister Janet

Big Sister Janet and Little brother Jonathan started meeting in the Every Classroom Counts program last year.  Janet would go weekly to read with Jonathan.  Jonathan had been referred to the program because he struggled with reading and his parents mainly spoke Spanish and were unable to help him when he first started school.  From then on out Jonathan had a hard time reading.  Janet described Jonathan as a very outgoing little boy, but not very confident with his school work.  Janet said she would try and bring books from the library that he liked to get him more engaged, eventually with time Janet saw the turn around in Jonathan’s reading and self confidence.  Still to this day, Janet and Jonathan meet within the Every Classroom Counts program and started meeting regularly outside of school.  Anytime Jonathan talks about his time with Janet he is always excited and can’t wait for the next week when Janet goes to see him at school.
